The Gilmore Girls Complete Series Box Set The Series stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, has a loveable and witty mother and daughter

Gilmore Girls hopped onto the WB as a heartwarming yet funny TV show about a mother and daughter relationship.  Lorelai is a single mom raising her teenage daughter Rory and at the beginning of this show we are thrown into the world of one of the best relationships a mom and daughter can have.  Over the 7 seasons of the years we see their friendship and relationship tested as Rory grows up and as new loves enter the seen.
The cast is all-star filled and watching Lauren Graham(Lorelai) face off with her parents played by Edward Hermann and Kelly Bishop.   But other characters who are lesser known also bring much to the mix.  From Luke, the local diner owner, Sookie the kooky best friend of Lorelai and Paris, Rory’s school rival and her best friend Lane.

Gilmore Girls is a lot about the relationships between family, friends and potential romances and while the quirky fast-paced dialogue might turn off some from the show, this is one of the best family dramas to air on television with a cast of characters that no  matter how annoying they are grow on you.  You can buy the Gilmore Girls DVD on Amazon, one of my favorite online retailers.  Here is a list of the different seasons and some of their special features and episodes you just can’t miss.

Gilmore Girls DVD Season 1

Season 1 of Gilmore Girls opens up in the fictional town of Stars Hollow.   Rory is faced with some changes as she enters in a new, prestigious school, Chilton.  Here she meets Tristan (Chad Michael Murray) bent on making her life miserable and Paris who sees her as a threat rather than a new friend. She also is having a hard time leaving behind her best friend Lane and the new kid at her old school Dean.   Since the new school is also close to Rory’s grandparents and due to the new location her and mom agree upon Friday Night dinners which her mom Lorelai isn’t exactly thrilled about since she left home at 16, pregnant and as been on her own since, shunning the wealthy lifestyle she grew up.  Lorelai works at a bed and breakfast with Sookie.  Many scenes take place at Luke’s Diner.

Gilmore Girls DVD Season 3

It’s finally Rory’s senior year at Chilton but what comes along with that is the stress of doing well in school, applying to college (which should she go to Yale or Harvard), and dealing with boy troubles.  Lorelai and Sookie continue their quest for their own bed and breakfast and Lorelai now has to come to grips with her growing feelings towards Luke.  This season of course continues to have Richard and Emily Gilmore who aren’t afraid to let their feelings known about what college they want Rory to go to.   This season Rory also has to make a decision about Dean and Jess.
An interesting note is that the episode “Here come’s the Son” was a test to see if a spin-off with Jess would work for the network.

Gilmore Girls DVD Season 4

In Season 4 everything is changing and the amazing relationship between Lorelai and Rory is now different with Rory beginning her 1st year in college.  Although Rory thought she was done with former rival Paris, suprises are in store when she finds out Paris is one of her new roommates.  The show tries to keep the relationship normal between mother and daughter via phone conversations but it just isn’t the same.  As with most shows, college years are rough for it, but Gilmore Girls somehow was able to keep the plots interesting and intriguing while dealing with the fact that Rory was now in college.  Luke and Lorelai finally get some of the fireworks going and Rory’s old boyfriend, Dean is now a married man which creates some rifts between Rory and Lorelai.

Lorelai’s Inn, the Dragonfly, finally opens its doors. Luke and Lorelai finally let their feelings for each other heat up but Lorelai’s parents aren’t too excited and Rory is now faced with a new love interest or rival, Logan, after the Dean drama ends.  This season also focuses more closely on the relationship between Emily and Richard, we also get to see more of Luke’s sister in this season and we are introduced to the “Life and Death Brigade.”

Gilmore Girls DVD Season 6-

This season was a first for Lorelai and Rory, and while in the many seasons before we saw them upset with each other, this season truly tests their relationship when Rory moves into the pool house at her grandparents house.  This all comes during the brink of good news for Luke and Lorelai.   Rory’s promising future hangs in the balance and is dealt with quite a bit of community service.  Luke also finds out he has a daughter of his own which also tests his relationship with Lorelai.

Season 7 Gilmore Girls Bonus Features-

Additional Scene
Gilmore Fashionistas
Who Wants to Talk Boys?
Kirk Gives A Tour of Stars Hollow
Keiko Agenea (Lane) gives us a peek into the Gilmore girls with “A Best Friend’s Peak Inside the Gilmore Girls”

Gilmore Girls DVD Season 7-

This season doesn’t quite live up to the other seasons, quite possibly due to the shows main creators not being here to finish up the series.  Lorelai gets married in this season, Lane is pregnant and Rory finishes up at Yale.  While I didn’t find this to be my favorite season of the series it is still a must see for all fans.
